BIOGRAPHY
Michael Merritt
My name is Michael Merritt, I am the owner and instructor for Advanced Medical Training, I have been an EMT/ Firefighter since May 1994. I started my career in the fire service and was employed with Sherman Fire Department for over 10 years. On my days off, I taught AHA certification classes and worked as a paramedic for various emergency departments, ambulance services, and event companies. In 2010, I moved to a quality position at Methodist Charlton and became the Quality Coordinator for the Cardiac Cath Lab. I stayed in that position for over 3 years before leaving Methodist to take my teaching business full time.
I have taught American Heart Association certification classes for over 20 years. My passion is teaching, motivating, and inspiring others to become THE BEST health provider or team player which in turn makes the facility better and allows for better patient treatment. Thus my motto is "Saving Lives Through Education".
I am the co-chair for QI Committee for the Caruth Grant and was also involved with AHA in varies ways to raise awareness for heart health from “Go Red for Women” to “Grass Roots Campaign”, which raises awareness for healthier children’s lunches. I am also involved in Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation awareness and AED funding.
The COO/Training Site Coordinator is Alyssa Merritt, she manages and oversees the daily operations and requirements as set forth by AHA under the Program Administration Manual. This manual covers all pre-course requirements, scheduling of students, maintenance of paperwork, and issuance of course completion cards.
